What's the Pickup Coil?

28th Dec 2020

For pickups, coil (copper wire) is wrapped around the magnet using bobbin. More wrapping of the coil results in stronger output and higher range of middle-sound, and the less wrapping of the coil results in stronger sound range for high and low-pitched sounds and lower output. Outside of the copper wire is coated using chemicals in order to prevent shortage from coil wrapping, and urethane, enamel and nylon are typically used. A unique sound is created by mixing many variables such as type of coil, wrapping amount, widths of coil, type of magnet and bobbin material. We could provide variety of winding coil, such as standard polyurethane coating, plain enamel, and nylon coating, and we could wind your bobbin by selecting coils with various diameters, from AWG #40~#44.

NOTICE: Pickup’s characteristic is determined by the number of wrapping of coil and resistance level. If you provide information on specifications, we could work accordingly.
